The Delray Beach CRA is proud to announce that they approved the budget for the Fiscal Year 2019-2020 at their latest board meeting on September 10, 2019. This budget will help to provide funding for the many community-wide improvements, with the main focus on infrastructure.
The CRA is committed to funding part or all of several infrastructure projects, which will provide much-needed improvements to the traffic circulation system, pedestrian safety enhancements and streetscape projects. Here are some projects we have in the works:
Osceola Park Neighborhood – $6,700,000
The Osceola Park Neighborhood project area is bounded by S.E. Second Street at the north and S.E. 10th Street at the south, and Federal Highway (US-1) at the east and Swinton Avenue on the west. Funding for construction of improvements include: resurfacing of the roadway; sidewalk and alley construction; improvements to the drainage, sanitary and storm water systems; improved landscaping; adding LED lighting; improvements to the reclaimed water main; and the completion of temporary traffic calming “pilot projects.” The goal of this project is to design a project that will reconstruct and retrofit the neighborhood’s existing public infrastructure to meet the needs of area residents, businesses and visitors. Please visit osceolaparkproject.com for more information.
S.W. Third Court; Fourth Street, Sixth Street, Seventh Avenue – $9,000,000
The Southwest Neighborhood is located southwest of Delray Beach’s central business district. Funding will support the primary components of the project, which include: construction of resurfacing of the roadway; sidewalk and alley construction; improvements to the drainage, sanitary and storm water systems; improved landscaping; adding LED lighting; and improvements to the reclaimed water main. The goal of this project is to reconstruct and retrofit the existing public infrastructure to meet the needs of area residents, businesses and visitors. Please visit sw4thstreet.com for more information.
Two Alleys in the Southwest Neighborhood – $930,000
Continuing the improvements in the Southwest Neighborhood, the CRA is providing funding for construction of sidewalk, water main, and alleyway improvements of alleys at 13th Avenue (mid S.W. Second Street and Third Street), West to Southwest 10th Avenue (mid S.W. First Street and S.W. Third Street) in the Southwest Neighborhood.
Alleyway Clearing of Unimproved Alleys in Northwest/Southwest Neighborhood – $50,000
With a goal to clean up untouched alleys in the Northwest and Southwest Neighborhood, the CRA will provide funding to remove any trash, debris, and overgrown shrubbery. This effort will beautify spaces that have otherwise been overlooked in previous years.
Northeast Third Avenue/Northeast Third Street – $1,250,000
The proposed streetscape improvements along Northeast Third Street and Northeast Third Avenue will provide safe, well-lighted pedestrian connections to the public parking areas and to area businesses, including water, sewer, and drainage upgrades.
On Northeast Third Street, you will also find the Arts Warehouse, which is an arts incubator and event center owned and operated by the CRA. These improvements will also create a more comfortable and convenient way for guests to visit the Arts Warehouse, during daytime and nighttime.
Another key component of these projects is you! The CRA would like to complete public outreach throughout the design process, so please reach out and provide feedback for improvements that you would like to see. You are encouraged to monitor the aforementioned websites for project updates, future meetings and, again, how you can provide your input to make this project the best it can be.
