Shape the Future of Your Community by Serving on the Newly Established RAC
The Delray Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) is looking to tap into the wealth of community insight and expertise by inviting residents to be part of the newly established Redevelopment Advisory Committee (RAC). Serving as a bridge between the CRA Board of Commissioners and the community, the RAC will play an invaluable role in steering the future of Delray Beach.
The mission of the RAC is simple yet impactful. It aims to guide the CRA Board in implementing various aspects of the Community Redevelopment Plan. However, its role is not confined to advisory suggestions. The committee will serve as a vital platform for gathering and channeling community input, ensuring a well-rounded approach to redevelopment. While the committee won’t have voting powers, its recommendations and reports will inform crucial decisions made by the CRA Board.
Interested in being part of this exciting opportunity? The CRA is currently accepting applications for RAC membership until October 31, 2023. There are a few qualifications you’ll need to meet to be considered. Firstly, applicants must own property within the CRA District. Secondly, membership in other advisory boards or committees, including Homeowners and Condo Owners Associations, is not permitted while serving on the RAC.
The RAC is not a salaried position, but the rewards come in the form of influencing positive change within your community. Members will serve a two-year term and are expected to attend quarterly meetings at a CRA property. Be advised that missing more than two regular meetings within a twelve-month period could result in removal from the committee.
Initial assignments for the RAC include brainstorming general development ideas for the West Atlantic Avenue Corridor and reviewing the Conceptual Site Plan for the 600-800 West Atlantic Block. These are golden opportunities to have a say in the formative stages of projects that could shape the future of the community.
For a comprehensive understanding of the RAC’s scope, responsibilities, and rules, we strongly encourage you to read Resolution 2023-03, which was adopted by the CRA Board on August 22, 2023.
In terms of transparency, it’s worth noting that the RAC operates under Florida’s Sunshine Laws, as well as the Palm Beach County Code of Ethics. This ensures that the committee’s operations are not just influential but also conducted with the highest ethical standards.
