Welcome to our CRA Fiscal Year Quarter Two Update brought to you by Executive Director, Renee Jadusingh! This past quarter brought a collaboration with Community Greening to plant trees along Fifth Avenue, a contractor being awarded the invitation to bid for the 95 S.W. Fifth Avenue Project, continued progress on 98 N.W. Fifth Avenue, and more.
Overall, we saw a lot of progress on our projects, which is great! One of the main highlights included planting trees in January with Community Greening at the Spady Museum, and the CRA owned cottages at 182 and 186 N.W. Fifth Ave. This is the sight of Nicole’s House, who is one of our tenants who will be bringing Jamaican cuisine and other Caribbean items for the neighboring communities to enjoy. This overall project is part of the City’s initiative to increase the canopy tree cover within the City, and we’re so excited to have been a part of it! Not only does it help with shade, but it also improves the beautification of our neighborhoods.
We also had a busy February! We awarded an invitation to bid to a contractor who will build the two-story building at 95 S.W. Fifth Ave. This is another way that we are helping to provide affordable commercial space in our District, which helps both our local business owners and our community members who like to shop local.
Next up is our 98 N.W. Fifth Ave. project, which is a two-story renovation project that has been in the works for several years that is now nearing completion. We finalized a lot of interior updates this quarter, including flooring, glass partitions, elevators, bathrooms, and finishings. Applications for first floor tenants is now available HERE. Stay tuned for the ribbon cutting announcement!
Now we’d like to focus on our Carver Square workforce housing development. This is a development of 20 single-family homes in the Northwest neighborhood where we’ve partnered with the Pulte Home Group to develop. This project is also very near completion, including the fact that almost all the homes are sold, so we are so excited to welcome 20 new families to our District!
Last but not least, we’d like to shine a light on the Osceola Park neighborhood improvements. This project began many years ago, with construction beginning in 2020 during the height of COVID. While it was a very trying time for the community, we felt that it was important to begin the first steps to improve this neighborhood, and now three years later, we are 80% complete with Phase 2! Some of the completed work include new alleys, new roadways, traffic calming measures, new sidewalks, lighting improvements, neighborhood signage, water main improvements and ADA ramps. Now, residents have a better and safer experience enjoying the notable alleyways. Our partnership with the City of Delray Beach made this project possible, and we were able to contribute more than $9 million of funds for this project, which was expertly managed by the City’s Public Works Department.
