The rotating exhibitions at the Arts Warehouse always highlight the immeasurable talent of artists in how they create, curate, and express their art. Delray residents get the opportunity to see and experience the magic that the Arts Warehouse creates when it takes on a new exhibit. However, this current exhibit, the 2023 Resident Artists Show, is especially qualified to successfully close out 2023 because it brings together the community of artists that have been a part of the Resident Artists Program for the past year for a collective exhibit.
This unique culmination of different artists and media is on view until Jan. 20, with a special Open Studio Night on Jan. 17 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. that will include the artists present to discuss behind the scenes of the creative process. The exhibit is a celebration of all the artists who called Arts Warehouse their studio’s home for the year and while the art collection doesn’t technically have a theme, there’s a certain symmetry in how the pieces come together to create the story of Arts Warehouse’s 2023.
In an effort to facilitate this connection between artists of very different styles, the Arts Warehouse staff collaborated with the artists on which of their pieces were chosen and where or how they were displayed. The result is a potluck of sculptures, oil paintings, ceramics, even temporary murals.
The connection between resident artists has been continually fostered over the past year and thanks to the Resident Artists Show, attendees can see the insinuation between artists. Second year Resident Artist, Dominique Denis, shared, “Being a resident artist at the Arts Warehouse gave me the opportunity to experiment, and exchange ideas with fellow artists. The mixed-media installation I created for this show gave me the confidence to explore bigger and bolder ideas in the future.”
Andrea Facusse, a Resident Artist in her fourth year said “These past three and a half years as a resident at the Arts Warehouse have been an incredible experience. I think that what led me to create these latest works currently exhibiting has been in part due to the exposure of creative talent I have gotten to meet at the Arts Warehouse, they are such an inspiration, so showing our work collectively in harmony is just really special to me.”
This exhibit is an ode to the artists that fuel the art community in Delray and is not one to miss.
