It’s time for an update!
The CRA-owned commercially zoned property is located in the Southwest Neighborhood at 95 SW 5th Avenue on the Historic NW/SW 5th Avenue commercial corridor. A small public parking lot was constructed on the east side of the property in 2010 and the west side was left vacant to accommodate future development. To encourage economic development and activation of the Historic NW/SW 5th Avenue commercial corridor, the CRA engaged an architect in FY 2018-19 to prepare design and construction drawings to develop a commercial building geared towards the purpose of providing affordable commercial rental space.
At the January 24,2023 CRA Board meeting, the CRA Board awarded the Invitation to Bid CRA No. 2022-01-R for the Construction of a Commercial Building at 95 SW 5th Avenue.
The Project involves the construction of a new two (2) story approximately 7,089 total sq. ft. commercial building. The ground floor area is approximately 2,245 sq. ft. and will include the lobby, staircase, restrooms, elevator, and one (1) commercial rental space with access from SW 5th Avenue. The second-floor area is approximately 4,844 sq. ft. and will include restrooms and two (2) commercial rental spaces. The existing parking lot (with current access from SW 1st Avenue) will be reconstructed to have a total of five (5) parking spaces (two (2) of the parking spaces will be ADA compliant) plus bicycle parking for six (6) bicycles.
