It has been two and a half months since the groundbreaking ceremony on at the 95 SW 5th Ave Project in the Central Business District and construction has been chipping away ever since. The groundbreaking ceremony was an opportunity for the community, city officials and construction crew to celebrate the commencement of the project that is expected to help the NW/SW 5th Avenue area flourish. Now, a new project update has been shared.
Ivan Cabrera, Community Redevelopment Manager, shared that underground construction has almost been completed and concrete slab was poured on Dec. 27.
Despite some difficulties throughout the past six months of construction, this project has been years in the making and is showing no signs of slowing down. Cabrera shared that construction is continuing at a good pace. Next steps include making vertical progress in the form of putting up walls and finishing the groundwork of the parking and building areas.
Seeing the beginning of the building’s structure will be a significant milestone to mark visual progress of the 95 SW 5th Ave Project as well as marking the progress of The Delray CRA’s efforts to bring new business to the historic NW/SW 5th Avenue. The new construction will function as affordable office space and retail space for commercial businesses. In the spirit of Delray, the project was meticulously crafted to reflect to the creative nature of the town with the grace of its modern architecture. This is yet another example of the CRA’s dedication to redeveloping with the local community in mind.
