Meet Mackenzie Weber, the CRA Redevelopment Coordinator. After sending in her application for a position at CRA-Owned Arts Warehouse in mid-April 2024, Mackenzie’s background in logistics and office administration guided her career in a different direction, leading her to where she is today.
“I initially applied for a position at the Arts Warehouse because I was looking to do something that aligned with my values,” Mackenzie explained. “After interviewing, I was encouraged to apply for another available position for the role of Project Administrator, working on various redevelopment projects within the CRA. This ended up being a good fit and around 8 months later, I was promoted to my current role, Redevelopment Coordinator.”
Building Community Connections Through Redevelopment Projects
Eager to learn and grow, Mackenzie shared that her role at the CRA has opened up new possibilities she hadn’t previously considered, thanks to the abundant growth and opportunities within the position.
“One of my favorite parts of the job is that I get to interact with people from all walks of life within the community and they all have a unique perspective,” she said
As her role expanded, Mackenzie found herself involved in a wide variety of projects, each contributing to her professional development.
Preserving Delray Beach’s Historic Structures for Future Generations
“I also like diving into the details of what needs to be done and seeing projects through. I’m behind the scenes, working with architects, contractors, and other vendors to maintain CRA properties and move projects forward,” Mackenzie shared. “Most importantly, I enjoy contributing to projects that benefit the community. Affordable housing and affordable commercial rental opportunities are essential. The preservation and maintenance of historic structures, like the CRA office buildings and the commercial cottages on NW 5th Avenue, is also something that’s important to me.”
When she’s not at work, Mackenzie finds balance in her hobbies, which include reading and exploring her artistic side with oil pastels. “Outside of work, I can be found watching old movies, lounging on the beach, or trying out new recipes,” she said.
Looking ahead, Mackenzie is particularly excited about the upcoming completion of the commercial building at 95 SW 5th Avenue, scheduled for the summer of 2025. But beyond the projects, it’s the connections with the community that stand out for her. “It’s always a great time at the CRA social events, where anyone can come to speak with CRA staff and enjoy some good food from local restaurants,” she recalled.
