South Florida Disc & Spine Expands in Delray Beach
A little over two years ago, South Florida Disc & Spine found its second home in Delray Beach. The clinic provides non-invasive treatments for severe neck, back, and joint pain. The CRA played a key role by granting Dr. Louis Miller and his team Site Development Assistance and Paint Up & Signage funding. This support helped elevate their presence in the community.
Improving Accessibility and Safety
Dr. Miller shares how the funding enabled crucial improvements to the building. “I was able to update the design to accommodate patients with service dogs, wheelchairs, and walkers,” he explains.
In addition, the building now features windstorm-approved windows and doors for increased safety. Dr. Miller also upgraded the air conditioning, air sanitizing, and filtration systems, which have been effective in reducing the spread of COVID-19.
A Building with History
The building holds special historical significance. It was once the practice location of Dr. Virgil C. Norris, Palm Beach County’s first black surgeon. Dr. Miller was proud to take over a space with such a rich medical history.
“The funding assistance program was vital in helping me establish my presence in the community with the financial boost I received,” Dr. Morris said. “I took over a building with a strong history of serving the community in the city of Delray; Dr. Virgil Norris, the famed general surgeon, practiced medicine there for years.”
A Successful Expansion
Since opening in September 2022, Dr. Miller’s practice has become more established. With continued support from the CRA, he reflects on the impact of their funding program.
“I simply could not have been able to achieve my dream of opening a second location if it was not for the CRA and the funding assistance program that was offered to me. I am grateful and thankful for the CRA and the opportunities I was afforded through the program.”
