Celebrating 40 Years of CRA Impact in Delray Beach
As the Delray Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) celebrates 40 years of dedicated service to the Delray Beach community, it reflects on its significant journey since its establishment in 1985. Over the decades, the CRA has played a pivotal role in revitalizing the city’s physical environment, fostering economic growth, and enhancing the quality of life for its residents.
The Role of Community Engagement in Redevelopment
“The overarching goal is still the same for all of our projects and programs – we work to improve the quality of life for those that reside in the CRA district, and support businesses that want to invest in the CRA District – especially those that are small and locally owned,” said Christine Tibbs, CRA Assistant Director. “We’re always reaching out to residents, property owners, and business owners and asking what they want and what they need to make sure that everything we develop, implement, and build meets those needs and wants – first and foremost.”
Since its establishment, the CRA’s mission has continued to center around the community, adapting to the evolving needs of the area.
“The Delray Beach CRA has always been in tune with the redevelopment needs based on the subarea that we are working with,” said Renée Jadusingh, CRA Executive Director. “We understand that one redevelopment strategy does not fit every area, so it is important to adapt and make changes to ensure that the needs of the community are being met.”
As we celebrate this remarkable milestone, we express our deepest gratitude to all the individuals, community leaders, and partners who have contributed to the CRA’s success.
“We are lucky to have a very engaged community,” said Jadusingh. “This is vital to redevelopment. We are here to serve, and over the years, we have had amazing community support for our redevelopment work.”
Building a Sustainable and Thriving Future for Delray Beach
The CRA’s dedication and vision have not only revitalized the city’s core but have also set the stage for a sustainable and thriving future.
“Well, the CRA is sunsetting in 20 years per Florida Statutes,” said Tibbs. “I hope with the time we have left, we’re able to break ground on the remaining significant projects – commercial and infrastructure improvements – that the community has been waiting for in the West Atlantic Area.”
