How First Friday Art Walk at Arts Warehouse Support Delray Beach’s Arts Scene
On the first Friday of every month, the Arts Warehouse comes alive as part of Delray Beach’s vibrant First Friday Art Walk. These evenings offer visitors a chance to experience art in a way that feels both approachable and immersive, transforming the entire building into a welcoming space for creativity, conversation, and discovery.
What sets the Arts Warehouse Art Walk experience apart is the opportunity to explore not only the gallery exhibitions, but also the resident artist studios. “This is a unique part of Arts Warehouse and also Delray Beach in general to have so many Artist studios in one place,” said Grace Gdaniec, Program Director.

The studios are a vital part of the Arts Warehouse ecosystem, serving as working spaces where artists actively create and engage with the community. “What is important about the artist Studios is it gives these local creative businesses a place to create their work, meet potential patrons, and connect with their community — hopefully allowing for inspiration on both sides,” Grace explained. For visitors, this behind-the-scenes access offers insight into artistic processes, styles, and themes that can’t always be seen in a traditional gallery setting.
Arts Warehouse Assistant María Barceló emphasized the intentional openness of these evenings. “We approach this event as an open house in which everyone is welcome to visit our studio hallways and view new exhibitions,” she said. “This evening invites guests not only to appreciate art but also to engage with the creative process of resident and exhibiting artists.”

Those interactions are at the heart of what makes First Friday special. Grace noted that meaningful connections often form between artists and visitors, whether through conversations about technique or through direct support of an artist’s work. “It’s great interaction for the artist to practice speaking about their work and their process and also I believe it’s inspiring and educational for the visitors as well,” she said. The strong return attendance from regular visitors, she added, reflects the ongoing creativity and inspiration that each Art Walk brings.
María has seen that same energy throughout the studio hallways. “The studio hallways come alive as visitors and artists engage in dynamic conversations, freely asking questions and sharing insights about the creative process,” she said. “Being part of this program is truly rewarding because we make our space a place to have meaningful exchanges where both artists and visitors enrich each other.”

For the Delray Beach CRA, programs like First Friday Art Walks play an important role in community engagement and economic development. “Every visitor that comes into Arts Warehouse is then able to learn more about other series, projects, and programs,” Grace shared, describing Arts Warehouse as both a creative destination and a point of connection to broader CRA initiatives. María added that continued CRA support helps encourage “the growth and renewal of the Pineapple Grove area,” while keeping the space accessible and welcoming.
For those who have never attended, Grace encourages newcomers to stop by regardless of their level of art familiarity. “With so much happening under one roof, there is definitely something to peak everyone’s interest,” she said. From gallery exhibitions to open studios and handmade works available for purchase, First Friday Art Walk offers a dynamic, inclusive experience that continues to strengthen Delray Beach’s creative community.
