Meet Jamilah Johnson: Guiding the Day-to-Day at the Work Space on 5th
As the Program Assistant at the Work Space on 5th, Jamilah Johnson plays an essential role in making sure Delray Beach’s community co-working space runs smoothly. Whether it’s greeting guests, answering questions, or helping visitors get settled for a productive day, she’s the first face people see—and a key part of the welcoming environment the CRA set out to create when launching the project.
Jamilah’s day-to-day responsibilities are wide-ranging, supporting both the operations of the space and the people who use it. From checking in remote workers to helping with behind-the-scenes needs, she ensures everything runs seamlessly.
Her path to the CRA was driven by purpose. “Once I started researching the organization and learning more about the mission behind the CRA, I was inspired,” she says. “I loved that it was about helping the community grow and thrive—I immediately wanted to be part of something so meaningful.”
Jamilah brings a strong background in customer service, communication, and organization to her role—all skills that serve her well in a space that sees a variety of entrepreneurs, creatives, and remote workers pass through its doors each day.
She sees the Work Space on 5th as more than just a professional setting. “Whether someone is starting a business, freelancing, or working remotely, the Work Space on 5th provides a professional and inspiring environment to get things done,” she says. “It’s more than just a place to work—it’s a place to grow.”
For Jamilah, one of the most rewarding parts of her job is seeing others thrive in the space. “Every day I get to see people making progress on their goals,” she says. “It’s rewarding to know that the space I help manage is going to help others move forward in their personal or professional lives.”
She also helps out with other CRA initiatives, attending events and supporting the team where she can. And when she’s not working, Jamilah enjoys baking and spending time with her family—two things that keep her grounded and inspired.
Her goal for every visitor? That they leave feeling supported, motivated, and ready to tackle what’s next. “It’s important to me that people feel like this is their space too.”
