2011 Easter Bonnet Pet Parade

Pets and humans parading down Atlantic Avenue

Those were just three of the 85 entrants in the Delray GreenMarket’s 10th Annual Easter Bonnet Pet Parade, held on April 23rd.  The pets and their human companions brought smiles to a lot of faces as they walked—and rolled—down Atlantic Avenue from Old School Square to the GreenMarket, and then down the “red carpet” to the judge’s tent.

A Furry Fiesta

Two cats, two goats, a couple of rabbits, and one dearly loved stuffed animal joined the parade of dressed-up dogs. Five-year-old Maitreya Motel, whose dog died recently, carried Tito (a purple stuffed Chihuahua with a sunflower hat) in the parade. The judges were so touched, they awarded Maitreya and Tito “Best of Show.”
