Spring is well under way in our beautiful city and we wish all of our readers a Happy Mother’s Day.

This month, you’ll read our usual array of stories that should give you plenty of ideas to treat your Mom. We happen to believe that Mother’s Day is just one day out of 365 that we should honor our Moms and the special women in our lives. As you search for ideas and inspiration in these pages, we hope you will consider supporting our advertisers who offer an array of services, goods and accommodations sure to delight even the most discriminating mom.

In honor of Mother’s Day, this seems a good time to point out some very special women doing remarkable work in Delray Beach.

Nancy Stewart-Franczak is no stranger to those of us who have been following Delray’s cultural evolution over the years.

Her festivals – which include The Garlic Fest, the new Bacon & Bourbon Festival and the recently produced Chamber event, the signature Delray Affair have left an indelible mark bringing literally hundreds of thousands of people to our city over the years.

Those of us who know Nancy know how hard she works, but she’s always there to lend a hand when needed and lives and breathes Delray Beach.

Melissa Carter is another hard working unsung heroine in our city, handling the marketing and PR for the Delray Center for the Arts remarkably well.

We are not sure when Melissa rests, because so much is happening on the square and she does a wonderful job keeping us informed and letting everybody know what’s going on.

Lori Nolan is also one of the hardest working people I know. Her stewardship of the CRA Green Market has been nothing short of terrific.

As a result, our market is the place to be on Saturday mornings. The market is not only a good social venue, but it incubates new businesses as well. Thanks, Lori!

Speaking of causes, activities and events, there are a few that escape the involvement of Kelli Freeman who is a wonderful ambassador for Delray Beach.

Four other great ambassadors are the incomparable Stephanie Immelman, Patty Reed, Sue Tauriello and Chamber President Karen Granger.

Always smiling, always positive and always busy doing good things.
