The new library measures more than 48,000 square feet in size, with a collection capacity of 250,000 volumes. The building is also equipped with reading areas, computer stations, reference rooms, meeting spaces, an auditorium and a café. The new library was completed in 2005. Parking is provided in a 3-story garage to the south that is shared with the South County Courthouse, located on the west side of SW 2nd Avenue. The courthouse is in the process of doubling its size and will add approximately 75,000 square feet of new building area.
