Mr. Stevens is a native of Delray Beach, Florida. He was born at Bethesda Hospital, and raised in Delray Beach. He is passionate about the growth and development of his community. Mr. Stevens is a graduate of Southern University, and practices Criminal Defense law. He has served on the Delray Downtown Development Authority Board, the Parking Advisory Board and has been a member of the Delray Beach Community Redevelopment Agency Board of Directors since 2009.
Joseph Bernadel was born in Haiti, where he graduated from the Institution St. Louis de Gonzague. He served in the United States Army and retired as a Major in 1997 after 22 years of worldwide sensitive military assignments. Major Bernadel is the founder of Toussaint L’Ouverture High School for Arts & Social Justice in Delray Beach since its opening in August 2001. Fluent in five languages, Major Bernadel’s diverse civic involvement includes serving as the Delray Beach Housing Authority Chairman and Community Land Trust member, Florida Board of the Community Hospital Educational Council and Department of Education Materials Selection Committee, and PBC Criminal Justice and Education Commissions. Following the 2010 Haiti earthquake, he served on the Interim Haiti Reconstruction Commission (IHRC). Most recently, Major Bernadel was appointed to the board of Human Powered Delray. His current professional priorities are to build institutions honoring the presence and contributions of people of color in South Florida and to enhance their welfare through education, political advocacy, and economic opportunities.
