Celebrate Small Business Saturday at the GreenMarket!
Did you know that all of the GreenMarket’s vendors, growers, producers and artisans are small local business owners? Saturday, November 26, 2016 is Small Business Saturday – a day to celebrate and support small businesses and all they do in our community!
A small business is defined as a business that employs 500 people or less. According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, “small businesses represent 99.7% of all employer firms.” Small businesses bring growth and innovation. They employ many people who may not qualify for employment by large corporations, and are able to respond and adapt quickly to changing economic climates. When consumers patronize local small businesses, they are essentially putting money back to their own community. There are so many reasons to shop local and celebrate small business!
In 2010, Small Business Saturday was first celebrated in Roslindale Village, Massachusetts. Small Business Saturday was created to counter Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which feature big-box retail and e-commerce stores. Small Business Saturday encourages holiday shoppers to patronize small local businesses. Did you know that everything you purchase from the Delray GreenMarket supports a small business? Come out on Saturday, November 26th to shop for all your holiday staples, pick up some holiday gifts, and support Small Business Saturday! At the Delray GreenMarket, we will be passing out free Small Business Saturday canvas shopping bags as a thank you for your support!
