The Delray Beach CRA

The Delray Beach Community Redevelopment Agency is a local government agency that works in collaboration with residents, property owners, businesses, and other community organizations to foster redevelopment within the CRA District. Among our priorities include public safety, beautification and infrastructure improvements, economic development, affordable housing, downtown marketing, and historic preservation.

The CRA has a number of programs to provide financial assistance to businesses, property owners and developers in the CRA District. Use the dropdown menu under “Grant Programs” to learn more about each individual program.

The CRA engaged the services of Munilytics, Inc. to prepare a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Study of the eight (8) sub-areas of the CRA District since 1985 and projected TIF revenue until the CRA sunsets in 2015, including expenditures over the past five (5) fiscal years, a comparative Analysis of CRAs in Palm Beach County and Broward Conty, and others of similar size and budget in the State of Florida, and an Economic Impact Analysis of the contribution to the Delray Beach economy from the CRA’s investments.

The Delray Beach CRA contributes to many projects throughout its District to carry out its mission and implement the City’s adopted redevelopment and neighborhood plans . Projects include street beautification and infrastructure improvements, affordable housing, public transportation, land assembly for new development, art and culture initiatives, and economic development.

Learn More

The CRA works in conjunction with the City’s Planning and Zoning Department and private consultants to create redevelopment plans for areas located within the CRA district. These plans are produced following a comprehensive, collaborative process that involves residents and businesses in the affected area. Generally the planning process includes numerous design workshops and community meetings that afford people the opportunity to identify problems and work together on solutions.

Learn More

Housing prices have risen dramatically throughout Palm Beach County over the past several years, and the Delray Beach CRA area is no exception. A successful redevelopment program must plan for the possibility that the resulting rise in property values may make it difficult for low and moderate income residents to afford housing in the redevelopment area.
