The Delray Beach CRA

The Delray Beach Community Redevelopment Agency is a local government agency that works in collaboration with residents, property owners, businesses, and other community organizations to foster redevelopment within the CRA District. Among our priorities include public safety, beautification and infrastructure improvements, economic development, affordable housing, downtown marketing, and historic preservation.

Housing prices have risen dramatically throughout Palm Beach County over the past several years, and the Delray Beach CRA area is no exception. A successful redevelopment program must plan for the possibility that the resulting rise in property values may make it difficult for low and moderate income residents to afford housing in the redevelopment area.

The Delray Beach CRA contributes to many projects throughout its District to carry out its mission and implement the City’s adopted redevelopment and neighborhood plans . Projects include street beautification and infrastructure improvements, affordable housing, public transportation, land assembly for new development, art and culture initiatives, and economic development.

The CRA works in conjunction with the City’s Planning and Zoning Department and private consultants to create redevelopment plans for areas located within the CRA district. These plans are produced following a comprehensive, collaborative process that involves residents and businesses in the affected area. Generally the planning process includes numerous design workshops and community meetings that afford people the opportunity to identify problems and work together on solutions.
