One of the best things about the Delray GreenMarket—besides the farm-fresh food and our amazing vendors, of course—is the people-watching. As you saunter through the market, you notice folks from all over the world and all walks of life. And you’re bound to overhear some interesting dialogue, too!

In a tribute to the GreenMarket’s 15th anniversary, we thought you’d enjoy our list of 15 Things Overheard at the GreenMarket:

1.     “That smells good!”

2.    “She likes the chicken-and-carrot one.”

3.    “For a minute there, I thought it was a wig.”

4.    “Half sour, comin’ up!”

5.    “Which one are we trying now?”

6.    “Have you seen my wife around?”

7.   “The sweet potato tastes like biscotti…you’d never know it was a dog biscuit!”

8.   Cock-a-doodle-doo!

9.   “You haven’t lived until you’ve had a hot conch fritter.”

10. “That’s what we need – a pig!”

11. “It’s like a…cracker barrel.”

12. “How ‘bout some wheat grass juice?”

13.  “Where’s your skateboard?”

14. “Oh, your dog is so cute!”

15. “Has anybody seen Lori?”

Regular market-goers know that #15 (referring to GreenMarket Manager Lori Nolan) is the one you’ll probably hear the most. A close second? Why, #8 of course! But you may have to arrive early to hear Heritage Hen’s big ol’ rooster sing his Good Morning song.
